Free phone apps and Remote ID

You do not need a thousand-dollar detector to start.
Remote ID is like a digital number plate. In several countries, many drones must broadcast their location, height, and a code that can be tied to the operator. Your phone can pick some of that up.
Search your app store for Remote ID receiver or drone detection apps. OpenDroneID-style apps are a common starting point. Some apps listen for motor noise. Others scan Bluetooth or Wi-Fi style broadcasts.
What you might see: a drone on a map, a height, and sometimes the operator’s approximate position. What you will not always see: every drone. Small drones, older drones, and some that are not broadcasting will not appear. Range is limited. Buildings get in the way.
Use an app in an open area first so you know how it looks when it works. If a drone is overhead, open the app, wait a few seconds, and screenshot anything that shows up. That screenshot goes in your incident log.
Apps are a layer. They are not the whole plan.
